Yumar Bonachea

Trumpeter, music producer, and musical director. Voting member of the Latin Grammys.

Born in Sancti Spíritus, Cuba, on October 18, 1974, Yumar is Mexican by naturalization and at heart. He graduated from the National School of Arts (E.N.A.) in Havana, Cuba, and has lived in Mexico since 1998.

He served as musical director for renowned singer-songwriter Ricardo Montaner's band. He also performs with the Cinema Concert Festival orchestras, bringing the scores of La La Land and Whiplash to life in live performances. In 2025, he joined Marcos Witt's Legado Tour in Ecuador and Colombia, and he is currently touring with Sin Bandera.

As a performer, arranger, or music producer, he has collaborated with Marcos Witt, Ricardo Montaner, Sin Bandera, Río Roma, Francisco Céspedes, PeeWee, Margarita la Diosa de la Cumbia, Carlos Rivera, Alejandro Sanz, Álvaro López & ResQBand, Alexander Acha, Yuri, Paco de María, Kalimba, Lila Downs, and Kika Edgar, among others.

He has worked on musical direction and arrangements for string orchestras, vocal coaching, ensembles, and brass recordings for artists, studios, and producers including Sony Music, Televisa, Antarrec Studio, Aneiro Taño Studio, Lulo Pérez Music, TAMA Record, and A.B. Quintanilla.
